King George V School (KGV) is a member of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), Hong Kong's largest provider of English-medium international education. With history dating back to 1894, KGV moved to its current site in Ho Man Tin in 1936. It is one of the oldest and most respected secondary schools in Hong Kong, boasting a long tradition of academic achievement and sporting excellence.
KGV offers a progressive curriculum that includes the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for younger students and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or the BTEC International Level 3 for senior students. The school is known for its inclusive ethos, housing a Learning Support Centre for students with moderate special educational needs, ensuring a diverse and supportive student body.
The campus is a blend of historic colonial buildings and cutting-edge modern facilities, including a performance hall and advanced science labs. KGV is famous for its 'House System', which fosters a strong sense of identity and competition in sports, music, and debating. It remains a cornerstone of the ESF network, producing high-achieving graduates who contribute significantly to the Hong Kong community and beyond.
