Yew Chung International School of Chongqing
Yew Chung International School of Chongqing (YCIS Chongqing) was the first international school in Chongqing to be officially registered by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Since its founding, it has been a cornerstone of the expatriate community, offering a comprehensive education for children aged 3 to 18. YCIS is famous for its pioneering 'Co-Teaching' model, where a Western and a Chinese teacher share responsibilities in each classroom, ensuring a truly bilingual and bicultural environment.
The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, which is adapted to include intensive Chinese language and culture programs. Students progress through IGCSEs and eventually the IB Diploma Programme. The school’s philosophy centers on creating 'Global Citizens' through a focus on character education and a holistic development of the child. This includes a strong emphasis on the arts, music, and physical education.
YCIS Chongqing is located in the Yubei District and boasts modern facilities including a gymnasium, computer labs, and multi-purpose rooms. The school is highly regarded for its community feel and its ability to integrate Western and Eastern values. It consistently produces graduates who matriculate into top-tier universities worldwide, often with high proficiency in both English and Mandarin.
