Horizon Japan International School (HJIS)
Horizon Japan International School (HJIS) is an IB World School located in the Tsurumi district of Yokohama. Since its founding in 2003, the school has grown rapidly, moving to a large, modern campus in 2019 to accommodate its expanding student body. HJIS is known for its warm atmosphere and its focus on using technology to enhance the learning experience.
The school offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The educational philosophy at HJIS centers on developing inquisitive, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Notable facilities at the Tsurumi campus include large, sunlit classrooms, a full-sized gymnasium, and specialized rooms for music, art, and science. The school also places a strong emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, encouraging students to engage in project-based learning and digital literacy from a young age.
