The German International School Washington D.C. (GISW), known in German as Deutsche Internationale Schule Washington D.C., is a bilingual German-English school that has served the Washington metropolitan area since 1961. Recognized and supported by the German government through the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), GISW offers a comprehensive education from preschool through grade 12 that combines the rigor of the German educational system with the flexibility of an American international school environment.
